The early days of gold mining in the Goldrat were defined by a peculiar method known as sluicing. Originating from the requirement to extract valuable minerals from the heavily laden riverbeds, sluicing flourished as a widespread practice. Resourceful miners would construct elaborate sluice boxes, precisely directing the river water to wash away
